A leader in need is a leader indeed? The influence of leaders' stress mindset on their perception of employee well?being and their intended leadership behavior

The ability to respond appropriately employees' work-related well-being requires leaders pay attention their in the first place. We propose that leaders' stress mindset, is, belief is enhancing versus debilitating, may bias perception of well-being. further this judgment then influences intention engage or refrain from health-oriented leadership behavior, express higher performance expectations, promote employees. expect process be stronger if strongly identify with team, increasing perceived similarity In three experiments (N1 = 198, N2 292, N3 250), we tested effect participants' mindset on show certain behaviors, mediated by employee (emotional exhaustion, somatic symptoms, work engagement) and moderated team identification. Our findings largely support association between results for proposed mediation moderating function identification were mixed. Overall, emphasize critical role may, thus, improve health promotion organizations helping adequately recognize appropriately.
